TASTE THE MAGIC AT SIMPLY SOURDOUGH

Our Story

In memory of our fathers...
Last year has been a hard one for our family: both my husband and I have lost our dear fathers in the span of barely 11 months. With their deaths, the world has lost two talented, dedicated, and loving human beings. Our family lost the world. In their memory, we want to do something grand - we want to write a Sefer Torah. While there are various ways to finance such an endeavor, we decided that it be in a way that garners additional merits for our fathers' neshamos. Every week for some limited time, I will bake supreme sourdough whole grain bread and sell it at the affordable price to the community. 100% of the proceeds will go towards the writing of the Sefer Torah. I will contribute my time and effort towards this benefit. I hope you will join us on this delicious and meaningful journey!

Questions and Answers

All our products are made with flour, water, and salt only. That is it! Some loaves and toppings contain seeds, spices, and some wholesome flavoring of your choice. We use organic ingredients as much as possible.
WHAT IS NOT IN THE BREAD? We are careful to use only pure grains. Most commercially available flours contain malted barley and thiamine mononitrate. You can google these and reach your own conclusions, but I have found that I am sensitive to them, even though I have no other allergies or food sensitivities. Many people with wheat sensitivity actually have the "additives" sensitivity. There is nothing to lose by excluding them. Literally. ARE THESE ORGANIC? Many of our ingredients are. Some of our breads are made entirely of the organic ingredients. If an item is wholly organic, it will be indicated in the description. ARE YOUR BREADS KOSHER? While our kitchen is strictly kosher, we do not have an official Kosher Supervision Certification. We authoritatively say that our breads are kosher, pareve, and Pas Yisroel, with challa having been properly separated. (Not Yoshon). For now, you have to take our word for it as this is a very small batch operation. Should the demand dictate, we will seek to be "Vaad approved." Drop us a line if you feel strongly about it. HOW DO I KEEP MY BREAD FRESH? It is worth noting that one of the benefits of fresh sourdough bread (bread made with a sourdough culture) is that it has no preservatives to prolong its shelf life, unlike store-bought bread. Our bread can typically last for 4 to 5 days at room temperature. If you need to keep it longer - freeze it and refresh in the oven.
